Gotta Have Passion!!!!
May 6th, 2008 9:27 PM

To be good at anything, sports, academics, a particular business endeavor or even a hobby, you have to love it.  You have to love what you are doing.  A star athlete does not love the years of training, pain and suffering required to be the best. Instead, it is the love of the sport, the competition, and especially the love of winning.

As a builder, we love our homes.  We study the plans, design them to live in, not to be built cheaply.(referred to as cost engineering)  We study our lots to make the best driveway entry, create the best yard both front and rear.  We design our grading plan to make everything work and by thinking in 3 dimensions, we are creating, what a blast.

Foundation, structure, steel, concrete, framing and then we begin to work with finish items.  The building process is in all reality a challenge, a tough decision making process, a lot of fun.

Building homes is the closest thing to creation that man can experience.  I love the process, I love the pieces, I love the final product.  If I can't be proud of my homes, I won't build them.

Look at them, then make the decision..................

Foreclosures and Deals!
May 4th, 2008 8:46 PM

I have recently been approached by a friend to finish a home that was a foreclosure that was just partially built.  Because it was a foreclosure being purchased from a bank for a fraction of the supposed building cost, my friend was convinced of the deal he was getting.

I didn't like the beam structure or lack thereof.  I called a structural engineer and every beam in the house failed, and several were missing.

The basement floor was cracked up and moving.  I called a concrete engineer and found out about lacking footings, no steel in concrete walls, etc.

As you can see, a deal is not allways a deal.  Many people are on the foreclosure bandwagon and are paying up to 15-20% more than they are worth.  Make sure you know what you are buying.
